User Agreement

This User Agreement (together with the documents referred to herein) sets out the terms on which you may make use of this website under the domain name www.africa-re.com (the “Website”), whether as a guest or a registered user.

The User Agreement consists of general terms applicable to all sections of the Website and special terms that apply only to certain applications, as indicated. In addition, expressly designated legal notices, disclaimers or other terms may be located on particular pages of the Website. Any such notices, disclaimers and terms are ancillary to this User Agreement.

Please read this User Agreement carefully before you start to use the Website. Using the Website means that you accept to abide by the User Agreement if not, please refrain from using the Website.

General Terms

Information about us

The Website is operated by Africa Re, a Reinsurance Corporation established by the member states of the African Union and the African Development Bank whose head office is at Plot 1679 Karimu Kotun Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.

Accessing the Website

2.1 You will be able to access most of the Website without registering your details with Africa Re.

2.2 Certain sections of the Website are restricted. You must first register and become a “Registered User” before you can access Registered User areas. From time to time, we may restrict access to some parts of the Website, or the entire Website, to users who have registered.

2.3 To become a Registered User you must provide a verifiable email address, complete all the required fields in the application form and read and accept these Terms of Use and any special terms that are applicable to the Registered User area. Africa Re will send you a confirmation email with your registration information. If you do not receive a confirmation email you will not be considered a Registered User and will not have access to Registered User areas.

2.4 Africa Re has the discretion to refuse your application to become a Registered User.

2.5 Each registration is for a single user only. If you choose, or you are provided with, a user identification code, password or any other piece of information as part of Africa Re’s security procedures, you must treat such information as confidential, and  not disclose it to any third party.

2.6 Africa Re has the right to disable any user identification code or password, whether chosen by you or allocated by Africa Re, at any time, if in Africa Re’s opinion you have failed to comply with any of the provisions of this User Agreement.

Information about you and your visits to the Website

Africa Re processes information about you in accordance with its Privacy and Cookies Policy (see link below). By using the Website, you consent to such processing and confirm that all data provided by you is accurate.

Linking to the Website

4.1 If you would like to link to this Website, you may only do so on the basis that you linkto, but do not replicate, the home page of this Website, and subject to the following conditions:

  • you do not remove, distort or otherwise alter the size or appearance of the Africa Re logo;
  • you do not create a frame or any other browser or border environment around this Website;
  • you do not in any way imply that Africa Re is endorsing any products or services other than its own;
  • you do not misinterpret your relationship with Africa Re nor present any other misleading information about Africa Re;
  • you do not otherwise use any Africa Re trademarks displayed on this Website without express written permission from Africa Re;
  • you do not link from a site that is not owned by you or your employer; and
  • your site does not have content that could reasonably be construed as distasteful, offensive or infringing any intellectual property rights or other rights of any other person or otherwise does not comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

4.2 Africa Re expressly reserves the right to revoke the right granted in paragraph 8 above for any breach of this User Agreement and to take any action it deems appropriate.

4.3 You shall fully indemnify Africa Re for any loss or damage suffered by Africa Re or any of its subsidiaries for breach of paragraph 4.
